Our Story

Full Spectrum Solar provides full-service installations of solar electric systems for businesses, homeowners, public authorities, and community organizations in Madison, Waukesha, and Milwaukee.

Brothers, and UW-Madison mechanical engineering alumni, Burke and Mark O’Neal started Full Spectrum Solar in August 2002. Burke had recently returned from his position as a lead engineer with one of the largest California solar energy companies.

Together, they envisioned an environmentally friendly business installing only top quality photovoltaic systems, with unmatched customer service and a competitive price.

Today, Full Spectrum Solar is one of the most well-credentialed solar energy contractors in the Midwest and has been featured on Wisconsin Public Radio.

With over 20 years in business, Full Spectrum Solar owes its successes to the amazing team that has formed over the years with the strategy that we hire people who are passionate about renewable energies first and foremost.  With this approach, we have assembled a team of Master Electricians, electrical and mechanical engineers, and credentials in Master of Business Administration, Certified Project Managers, and NABCEP-Certified installers. Our team has installed over 1,100 of the finest quality solar energy systems in southern Wisconsin.

We are proud of our zero-energy-cost office and shop in Madison and our energy-efficient vehicles, including three electric vehicles. In 2013, our office and shop was awarded an ENERGY STAR 100/100 rating. That’s the highest rating in Wisconsin; better than 99 percent of comparable buildings!

While every project is special to us, our most publicly recognized projects include Forest Edge Elementary School, McFarland Public Utility Building, Olin Park, Madison Circus Space, Olbrich Gardens, St. Dunstans, Dane County Job Center, Willy Street Grocery Co-op, the Milwaukee Recycling Center in Milwaukee, Organic Valley Cooperative in La Farge, Evansville Community Pool, and Dominican Eco-Justice Center in Racine.
