What to Do After Hail Damage to Your Roof and Solar System

The weather event of 4.15.26 was an extreme storm event in our area. If your home or solar system was impacted, the next steps can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate it alone.

Our team has the solar expertise to assess the damage, support communication with your insurance carrier, and help you understand rough replacement costs before the detailed inspection phase begins.

How we help

  • Assess visible hail damage to roofing and solar equipment
  • Provide rough pricing guidance for insurance discussions
  • Prepare a detailed pricing report after a site assessment
  • Design replacement solutions using currently available modules

Start Here

1

Contact Your Insurance Carrier

Begin the claim process for both roof damage and solar damage. Let your carrier know the property contains a photovoltaic system and that panel damage may extend beyond what is immediately visible.

2

Use the Calculator

Use the rough pricing calculator below to begin a practical conversation with your insurance adjuster. It is intended as a starting point only and not a final proposal.

3

Schedule an Assessment

After an onsite review, we can provide a more detailed pricing report that reflects the roof condition, system design, equipment availability, and project complexity.

Important Solar Panel Damage Disclaimer

If a solar panel shows visible hail damage, we recommend replacement of the complete panel system rather than only the obviously broken modules and will support that message as you work on a claim with your insurance.

Given the severity of the hail observed during this event, adjacent panels may have also sustained hidden impact damage, including micro-fractures within the cells or laminate. These fractures are not always immediately visible, but they can affect long-term performance, accelerate degradation, and raise safety concerns over time.

For long-term reliability and safety, a complete panel replacement approach is often the most appropriate path when visible hail damage is present.

In some cases, we may find that a damaged solar panel is no longer manufactured or available in the current market. This is not uncommon, especially for systems that are several years old, as panel sizes and electrical characteristics have evolved over time. When a direct replacement is not available, one possible solution is to relocate an existing panel from the edge of the array to replace the damaged module. The array can then be shortened slightly, resulting in a small reduction in overall system size and production.

Why homeowners call us

Hail claims involving both roofing and solar require specialized knowledge. We understand how roof work, solar removal and reinstallation, equipment compatibility, and insurance communication all fit together.

Exact panel matches may no longer be available, so our team works with current module offerings to redesign and restore your system appropriately.

A rough calculator can help you get started. A detailed assessment is the best way to establish actual scope and pricing.

Interactive Rough Pricing Calculator

Use this calculator for a rough starting number to help begin discussions with your insurance adjuster. Final pricing is provided after a site assessment.

If the calculator does not load on your website builder, the platform may require the script to be placed in a global custom code area or HTML widget.
